Waldo the Mouse.
There was a little mouse named Waldo who lived in a big house with his mother, father, and his brothers and sisters. Waldo loved adventure and wanted to explore the world. But his parents always warned him about the dangers lurking in the house. Especially the humans, who were the mice's greatest enemies.
One day, when Waldo was home alone, he saw a delicious piece of cheese on a plate. He couldn't resist the temptation and quickly ran towards it. But before he knew it, a cage fell over him. Waldo had fallen into a trap!
He started squeaking and trembling with fear.
After a while, he heard footsteps approaching. It was the human, who picked up the cage and carried it outside. Waldo thought the human would kill him.
Waldo closed his eyes and waited for the worst. But to his surprise, he suddenly felt a gentle breeze and heard the birds chirping. The human hadn't killed him, but had released him into the wild!
Waldo opened his eyes and saw that he was in a beautiful forest. He saw flowers, trees, butterflies, and other animals. He smelled the fresh air and felt the warm sun. He couldn't believe his luck.
He jumped out of the cage and ran around. He met other mice who greeted him kindly. They told him they lived in a big family that took care of each other. They invited him to come and live with them.
Waldo was happy to have made new friends, but he still missed his own family. He wondered if he would ever see them again. He decided to write a note and give it to a bird, who would deliver it to his house.
He wrote:
"Dear Mom, Dad, brothers, and sisters,
I got caught in a trap and taken by the human. But he didn't kill me, instead, he released me into a beautiful forest. I have many new friends here who are very kind to me. But I miss you all very much and hope you will come and find me. I'll be waiting for you by the big oak tree.
Lots of love,
Waldo"
He gave the note to a bird, who promised to deliver it. He thanked the bird and went back to his new friends.
A few days later, while Waldo was playing, he suddenly heard familiar voices. He looked up and saw his mother, father, and his brothers and sisters. They had come to find him!
Waldo was overjoyed and ran to them. He gave them all a big hug and a kiss. He told them everything he had experienced and introduced them to his new friends. His family was happy that he was safe and having a good time.
They decided to stay together in the forest, where they made a new home.
They had never been happier!
